Lillian Lane Scholarship

The Lillian Lane Scholarship is awarded annually each spring by the Insurance Professionals of Columbus, Ohio (formally the Insurance Women of Columbus, OH - IWOCO) to a student for the study of Risk Management and Insurance, Actuarial Science, or Business with insurance related content. Recipient should be a U.S. citizen pursuing an undergraduate degree at a central Ohio college or university pursuing a career in Risk Management, Insurance or Financial Planning.

The IPOCO Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Lillian Lane, who was a member of IWOCO from 1942-2003.  Lillian served in all of the officer and chair positions in IWOCO and served on several National level committees, including the National Association of Insurance Women's (NAIW) National board of Directors.  She had attended all Regional and National conventions until her health began to decline.

Lillian's entire insurance career was spent at the Gruber Insurance Agency in Grandview, Ohio. She retired in 1976 but continued to actively support IWOCO until her death in February 2003.

She was active in her church, doing volunteer work and keeping in touch with friends.

IWOCO chose to honor Lillian Lane since she was a strong advocate of the purposes of NAIW--Fellowship, loyalty and education.  She served as a mentor to many younger members over the years; led by example, not just words; and was a faithful friend to all of those privileged to know her.
